First please note that we love this brand. We have owned several of these machines and encouraged others to get them as well. Our old Citiz blew an internal gasket after years of hard use so we were looking for a replacement. We chose the U - what a disappointment.

They say the buttons are programmable - they are but only up to a limit. It will never fill a cup. Also consider that even though they say it is programming water volume, they are really gauging time. Over time not as much water goes through for the same amount of time so the accuracy of the programming changes over time. So your cup isn't full...

You now need to touch a button within a few seconds. But your and my life is busy and we simply want a machine to fill a cup of good coffee. So we have turned away and are focusing on something else... if a button is not touched within a few seconds YOUR CAPSULE IS GONE AUTOMATICALLY. You have to stand there (and pay attention) if you know you are going to need more than one touch of a button for the same capsule to fill your cup.

Don't like the auto-off and want to turn it off your self? Follow the directions in the book and it turns it back on! Hot water is now pouring over your counter.

So now your cup is only half full and you've got hot water all over the counter and you are looking at Amazon's return policy.

Spend the extra and buy a Citiz. Or less and buy a Pixie. The U is a good idea that still needs work. You have 30 days to decide.

BTW - what did Nespresso support suggest after reporting all this to them? Here's a snippet of their email... "After reviewing your account it looks like the machine was purchased through a third party vendor. You will need to contact them and ask about their return policy."
