Yes, I would agree with another reviewer with not washing it - I can't see how that would even be possible. The connection from the wall plug to the blanket is at the center of the bed, down by your feet. As another reviewer said if you're over 5'5" you will probably touch it. When we had a queen size bed (more than a year ago), I'd occasionally touch it. but just moved my foot over a few inches - no biggie. Now we have a king size and I almost never touch it. When I do I know I've traveled over quite a bit.
To cut down on feeling the wires, we put the heated mattress pad on first, covered by a regular mattress pad, then our sheets. The stiffness of the wires went away pretty quick, and the wires are no longer noticeable. When spring came earlier this year I started to take the heated pad off our bed, then thought about where I'd have to store it, just decided to leave it on all summer, since we couldn't feel it anyway. Now it's ready for the occasional chilly nights we're getting. I need to buy some for the kids beds so I can turn the heat down at night this winter.
Overall, we LOVE it.
I also turn it up pretty high when I'm getting ready for bed, but once in bed for the night I usually have it on low or #2 for the night - it's really efficient.
And another thought - when using this I wake up feeling relaxed and limber - not cold and achy like I used to. So nice!!
