The dishes are nicer than they appear in the photograph. I was grateful to find them. I had been looking for a new set of dishes for a very long time - several years. For one thing, I wanted a 5 piece setting, (cup and saucer), not a 4 piece setting (mug only). I also did not want to buy dishes by individual settings, so I was looking for a set, with serving pieces included. In addition, I did not want to buy anything made in China. This narrowed the range of choices to just about nothing, since I also wanted to like the pattern, at least a little bit. And oh, yes, I wanted something that could go into the dishwasher. (In this day and age, what morons decided to market sets of dishes that they recommend you wash by hand?)

This set of dishes is lovely, It includes both cups and saucers, a few serving pieces; it can be used for everyday use or special occasions. Best of all, they are made in Italy, not China. I would have loved to have found something made in America, but, as far as I can see, dinnerware sets are not made in America. At least I couldn't find any.

If I had to fault this set, I would say that it comes with 2 types of bowls, excluding the serving bowl: soup bowls and cereal bowls. But both are quite small; the soup bowl is wide enough, but it is very shallow. Some Lorenzo sets come with one bowl and perhaps those are bigger. All Lorenzo patterns that I saw on line are attractive. If I could have seen these sets in person, I might have chosen another pattern, especially if one pattern came with bigger soup bowls. Another minor fault is that they cannot be used in the microwave. But all things considered, the length of time I have been looking, the ultra reasonable price, and the fact that the set meets my other criteria listed in my first paragraph, I am extremely pleased. I am also relieved that I finally found something.
